Vega Fay Wolf of Thousand Oaks, California passed away on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born on April 24th, 1934 in Pasadena, California and lived in Redondo Beach until moving to Chatsworth, California when she was in elementary school. Growing up in Chatsworth, she enjoyed hiking and climbing in the rocky hills, swimming in the lake, and visiting Iverson Ranch to watch the filming of the old Westerns. Vega married John Wolf in 1957, and they bought a house in Canoga Park, CA where they welcomed their two daughters, Linnea and Kari. In 1968, they made the decision to move the family to Westlake Village, where they lived for over 40 years until moving to Thousand Oaks.
Vega graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1952. After high school she began her college studies at both UCLA and Pacific Lutheran College. She took a break and then returned to college in the 1970s, attending California State University Northridge completing her BA in History with a minor in Home Economics along with a teaching credential.
After completing her degree, she taught history, home economics, and childcare classes at Adolfo Camarillo High School. She also owned and ran Treehouse Preschool in Agoura Hills, California.
She was actively involved in events at the Reserve, where she lived in Thousand Oaks, including working as an ambassador welcoming new residents. In addition, she was a longtime member and involved with New Hope Lutheran Church, formerly known as Westlake Lutheran Church, for over 50 years. When she was young, she began studying the Hula, which she performed often. She continued her passion for the Hula and the Hawaiian Islands throughout her life. She also made several trips to Hawaii with her husband John and recently enjoyed her last trip to Hawaii with her grandsons Sam and Sean.
In addition, Vega had a lifelong love of animals. Throughout her life, she rescued and cared for cats, dogs, and birds, and she shared that passion with her children and grandchildren. While teaching at Camarillo High School, due to her frequent rescues around campus, she was known as the “Cat Lady.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Wolf.
She is survived by her daughter Linnea and her husband Richard, her daughter Kari and her husband Lee, and her three grandsons, Sean, RJ, and Sam.
