"Susan Mote Burris was born on February 13, 1945 in Piqua, Ohio to Tom and Martha Mote. She and her sister Jane became active members of their beloved community and church while growing up. She was an avid piano player and spent several years as a girl scout and two years as head majorette at Piqua Central High School. After high school, she enrolled at the University of Cincinnati as part of their nursing program. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in nursing and Master’s degree in Education and began teaching nursing to others in the years that followed. She was proud of her education and instilled this value in her children and grandchildren. During her time at the University of Cincinnati, she met her husband Frank Burris. The two married on August 31, 1968 and their adventures began in earnest. The Burris family moved to Agoura Hills, CA in 1989 and Sue became an active and happy member of the community. Through the years, she became a soccer/softball/football/baseball/water polo mom to her four busy children. She also began a new and fruitful career as a 21 year employee with Agoura High School. Retirement brought new opportunities and hobbies, as she and her husband Frank embarked on many adventures traveling abroad. She is survived by her husband Frank, her sister Jane and her children Brian, Amy, Jenny and Katie, as well as her daughter-in-law Rochelle and her three grandchildren Connor, Lauren and Logan. She passed peacefully on Sunday May 15, 2022 in the presence of her loved ones. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy of education, patience, humor and enduring love continue to live on.
To honor Sue's career in nursing and the talented and sensitive team of nurses that cared for Sue during her illness, her family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. This can be accessed by going to the link below and selecting The UC Fund followed by the UC Fund for Nursing."
I've attached the photo we want used (the one of her in the pink shirt labeled Sue 2022). I've also attached a photo of her taken in December and just a few days before her death. I don't think we have any recent solo pictures or photos with a better angle but I can look if these aren't sufficient.
