In July of 1960, while working at the FBI in DC, Paula met Tom Sheil. They had their first date a few months later at a University of Maryland Football game. Paula was dressed to the nines in a cashmere camel hair suit with a mink hat and high heels. Tom, on the other hand, wore a Pendleton shirt and slacks. From that first date, Tom knew she was The One. They were married just a few months later on February 2, 1961.
Together, Tom & Paula raised four children; Ellen, Regina, Tommy and Sally. By 1974, the Sheil family settled in Westlake, CA., mostly because Paula wanted to be close to her parents, Buddy and Anna Myers, who lived in San Diego.
Tom continued his work as a Special Agent in the LA office of the FBI and Paula kept busy selling real estate and later working as District Director in Congressman Elton Gallegly's office.
Paula was over the moon when she was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren; Ryan and Conner Sheil; Cortney Holloway Holt; Alex, Tommy and Jake Moss; Liz and Nick Becerra.
When not working or tending to all of the children, Paula loved to travel. Together with Tom and their dear friends, Janice and Elton Gallegly, they visited Italy, France, Germany, Iceland, The Baltic States, Morocco, Turkey, and Thailand just to name a few. Paula was also welcomed as a guest in the Arctic Circle. Golf clubs were always part of the luggage and whenever there was a chance, Paula would improve her swing.
One of the most recent highlights for Paula, was a day on the set of The Young & The Restless where she met Victor Newman. The family is grateful to Rachel Giroux for making such a special day possible for Paula.
Paula is survived by her husband Tom, her children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, her brother Mike Myers, her sisters Diana Spiers and Rita Datko, their spouses, their children and grandchildren. Paula is also survived by the "Most Beautiful Dog Ever", Bentley.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm on November 2, at St. Jude's Church, followed by a graveside service at Pierce Brothers Cemetary, both in Westlake. A reception will be held immediately after the service at the Grove club house in Camarillo.
