We are honoring our beautiful mother, grammie, wife, daughter, sister, and loving friend. A “Kentucky Colonel” mom who drank Mint Juleps and loved chocolate.
Margaret was a Kappa Sigma sweetheart at University of Kentucky as well as a former ER/ENT nurse. Later in life, Margaret was also an entrepreneur working in the medical field and earning the respect of many hospital administrators. Her varied career led Margaret to Magic World, and sometimes, as a costume designer to the stars! Margaret went back to school, completing an accounting program and CTEC certification for her tax license, eventually retiring after 14 years in the industry in 2022.
Margaret raised independent and strong children in Lisa and Michael and left a lasting impression on her two step children Jim and Lynn. Her family was #1 including her two grandchildren, Johnathan & Kayleigh and son in law Mario. A true fix-it-yourselfer who was a better handyman than many handymen, you would find her on a 6 foot ladder with a saw, tool, or a paintbrush in hand. Margaret’s passion extended beyond family and was the driving force, pulse, or center of everyone, especially the Spalding/Hoehle/Martin clan.
Margaret was also a ‘sports’ mom who fundraised to build the WHS stadium where her son Michael, and grandson Johnathan both played football, a true legacy. Margaret was the biggest fan on the field and would also make the trek for soccer matches and to many of her granddaughter Kayleigh’s school performances.
There wasn’t a friend or stranger that couldn’t refrain from that Southern charm of hers!
Margaret joins her late husband Jim (married 1975), the love of her life, 41 years later. She is also greeted by her mother Emma, daddy Earl Sr., and brother Butch.
