Joseph Lennon of Newbury Park passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Cottages of the Oaks Seniors Residence of Thousand Oaks, at the age of 88.
Born September 19, 1923 in Ann Field Plain of Durham County in Northern England, he was educated in Technical Services and employed in the field of Industrial Design Drafting for a variety of companies in England, Canada and the U.S.
He served as a Sergeant-Pilot in the British Royal Air Force during the Second World War, stationed in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
He immigrated with his young wife and family to Canada in 1954 and subsequently moved to California in 1967, initially taking up residence in Newbury Park in 1968.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife, Eileen, of 53 years in 1997 and by sisters, Mary and Monica as well as his brother, John.
He is survived by brothers, Peter and Desmond (of the UK); sons, Michael (wife Vivian) of Nova Scotia and Peter (fiancee Gail) of Fullerton, Ca.; daughters, Berenice (partner Marie-Christine) of Delray Beach, Fl. and Josephine (husband Dennis) of Oxnard, Ca.; grandchildren, Chad (partner Marci), Vanessa, Genneah and Joel (wife Jenny); and special friends, Cameron and Heidi Nelson of Sanger, Tx.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 13 from 6pm to 8pm and a funeral service on Friday, September 14 at 3pm, both at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary. The family invites you to join them at a reception at Joseph’s home in Newbury Park, immediately following the chapel service. Directions will be provided.
