Msgr. Joseph Cosgrove, age 80, of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Born September 20, 1935 in Ireland. Monsignor Cosgrove was ordained into the Priesthood on June 19, 1960 and accepted his first assignment at Nativity Catholic Church in El Monte, California. During his devotion to the Priesthood, he was assigned to eight different Parishes in the Los Angeles area, ultimately receiving the assignment of Founding Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moorpark, California in 1981. He was named Monsignor on June 6, 1995. After his retirement in 2005, he moved to Las Vegas, celebrating Mass at St. John Neumann and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Churches. The youngest of thirteen children, he is survived by his brother, Michael, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9am-10am, Rosary at 10am on Friday, June 3, 2016, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11am, all at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 13955 Peach Hill Rd, Moorpark, CA. Burial will immediately follow the services at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley, California. Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary.
