We are sad to announce the passing of Joan Davis, 96, on June 19th, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Robert Davis, in 2003 and her four brothers Bud, Dick, Jack and Jimmy.
Joan’s adventurous spirit was displayed early on when she decided to become one of the early flight attendants so she could travel and see our great country. Not long after she hung up her wings, she and her good friend Dale Morgan picked up and made the to move out to California. But her greatest adventure started when she met the love of her life, Bob, and they began their life together.
Joan’s biggest delights came from the time she spent with her family. She was so proud of both of her daughters, Pam Davis and Cheryl (Cherie) Gee. Her four grandchildren and their spouses /significant others (Chris Gee and Lizzie Tiritilli, Jamison Overend and Blake Overend, Jeff Jonokuchi and Crystal Chang, Danny Jonokuchi and Kristina Radke) provided her with endless wonderful memories. And her three great-grandsons Smith, Brooks and Nathan filled her with joy and she shared a special bond with each of them.
Last October, Joan’s youngest grandchild Danny married his beautiful wife Kristina. By then Joan was limited to walking with her walker but told everyone she knew (or casually met) that she was going to dance at the wedding. She beamed as her daughters and grandchildren joined her in a circle as she danced the night away.
The part of Joan’s life that we all need to live by was her sheer happiness at even the smallest things. She always had a smile on her face and looked for the positive in every person and every event. Joan made friends everywhere she went. She once called her only granddaughter Jamison to tell her that she had met the perfect young man for her in line at the DMV. She was never shy. Living almost 97 years, many things changed over her lifetime. Even if they did not make sense to her she was very open minded, encouraging and understanding.
Although Joan has left this world her spirit, kindness and joy for life will live on forever.
