He graduated from Purdue in 1958 with a bachelor's in engineering and a Master of Business from California State University Northridge in 1988.
He worked as a mechanical engineer with Rocketdyne as well as a Real Estate broker and a Tax preparer agent.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia R. Hall-Thompson, Carolyn Delcher- Thompson and his third wife Elise Jennsen-Thompson and his older sister Dee.
He is survived by his son, Herbert Thompson and his wife, Denise Dimascio; daughter, Laura Thompson, daughter, Susan Storer and her husband Mark Storer and their daughter, Shannon Storer; Stepson Daniel Eagle and his wife Cindy Eagle; Daughter in law, Susan Abbott and her husband Glen Abbott; Son in law, Ray Delcher and his younger sister Alice Miller and her husband Ken Miller.
