I just found out about Bruce. My condolences to his family.  I grew up with Bruce while attending summer camp  We were in the same bunk every year and I enjoyed the summers with his company.  Bruce was a terrific athlete. He was especially skilled at playing basketball.  I can visualize right now his left handed shot from over his shoulder.  One summer,  he and I challenged Wali Jones,  a professional NBA player to a2 versus 1 game.  We lost but we both had fun.  So sorry I didn't keep in touch over the years  Our birthdays were exactly the same,  so I always thought of him.

I will always remember Dr. Schiffman's dedication to obstetrics, he delivered my 3rd child (Kathryn Parr) after a very long labor. Thank you for all you did for medicine, we are so blessed to have you. Time to rest now.

16 Years ago Dr. Bruce delivered my baby girl on this very tragic day.  So sad to hear this.  I will never forget that day!  


Dear Mary, I cannot say enough how devastating it was to hear of Bruce's passing. I am so sorry I wasn't able to attend his services. Robin and Barb told me how lovely it was. Please know I will always treasure the time I spent working foe Bruce and the memories I have of your incredible kindness to me. May God bless you and Jenna, Blake and Alex!

     I am very sorry to read about Bruce's passing. Although a few lifetimes have passed since I last spoke to you both, he was always  so witty, smart, handsome and funny. I am glad to see through his pictures that the years were so kind to you both.

A am in shock and saddened by the loss of Bruce, I have been living and working in New Orleans and just called to invite Bruce and Mary to My Fathers 83rd Birthday.. Bruce was my first cousin. He and I spent our Summer's together at Camp Green Lane, we were bunk mates.  We always had each other's backs!  I know he will be missed very much by all his cousins. His laughter, his crazeyness during the studio 54 days will never be forgotten.

     My name is Demetra Arvanitidis, a pediatrician and coworker of your beloved Bruce Schiffman at AIM Specialty HealthI wasn't able to attend the memorial service your family held last week because I received the news of his passing away while I was on a family vacationI am so sorry that I wasn't able to be there personally to give you a big hug and to tell you personally how special Bruce was to all of us here at AIM and how blessed and privileged I was to call him friend.  Thank you for all that you did to make him into the special person he waswe were all blessed and touched forever by his presence in our lives.and I know, by the stories he would always tell us and by how fondly he spoke of you, his family, how special you all are too.  He loved his family so muchwe could tell by the way he spoke of you...he tried his best to be a good providerhe would show us how you, Mary, would so carefully and caringly pack his lunch for himhe would always brag about what an amazing Italian cook you are and what a beautiful, classy lady his wife, Mary, is!  And Alex, his youngestthe apple of his eye and the spark to his sparkle!  He loved all of his kids and grandchild! If I could describe Bruce in one wordI would say he was a Legendand I would always try to encourage him by telling him that, too!  I would always tell him that he should write a book of all of his experiences as a physiciannot only were his stories so funny and entertaining to us all in the officeI know for me especially, because my cubicle was so close to Bruce's for the first few years I worked at AIM, I gained so much wisdom not only about medicine, but about life in generalI would always say that I became street smart just by working with BruceHe had so much wisdom that he shared with all of us throughout our workdayBruce brought so much life to our work environment and somehow still managed to be such a dedicated, dependable, productive worker!  He was so diligent at his workthe few days that he was gone from work, his absence was definitely noticed!  He was like a pillar at the Glendale office for AIMI would call him the Patriarch of the office!  Transitioning from a hands on MD to a corporate MD was difficult for all of us, especially in the beginningsometimes the small AIM cubicles may not seem big enough to accommodate one's larger than life personality or aspirationsbut I wanted to share with Bruce by encouraging him with the Psalms, that he did have a larger than life, legendary purpose and calling and that by sharing his wisdom and loving personality with his family and his coworkersand even with the doctors on the phonehe DID make a larger than life impact on you, on us at AIM, and on the patients his work affectedOne of my favorite Psalms that I shared with him was Psalm 18:  I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved (verse 3)and I believe he got thisHe was truly Legendary and I pray that his memory and legendary impact lives on always in our minds and hearts.   I give you my heartfelt condolences for the loss of Bruce's physical presence in your life and  I pray that the God of all comfort comforts your family with His peace and love in the way that only He knows how.

I was lucky enough to grow up with the Schiffman family and have Bruce act as a second father. He was always such a kind man. I will never forget how he would let me sit on his lap and tell him stories about my interesting childhood life at the time.  I know that he touched so many people, was a gifted physician and most importantly an incredible father. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with you Mary, Jenna, Blake and Alex. I am one of the nurses Dr. Schiffman worked with for 9 years out in Glendale. I am very sad and shocked to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers for his family. I only found out today -- when a returned after a trip. So I can't be there at the memorial.

I worked with Bruce for many years at West Coast Medical group. We had a strong connection with one another. He was an intricate part of our close knit group. He was kind, generous, fun and caring. He was a great mentor for me. He supervised my colposcopy training and was a good teacher. When our company was bought by a bigger organization, many of us wished for other work. He hired many of us. He allowed me to see patients in his office during evening and Saturday hours. He was so generous and sweet and funny and loving to us all. I cannot stop thinking of him and feel an immense loss about his untimely death. I will never forget this wonderful man and how he impacted my life. I send my love to Mary and Bruce's children. I am so sad today. Rest in peace Bruce.

I am so sad to hear of your passing. I had the pleasure of meeting you several times over the years and being welcomed as one of the family. I enjoyed talking medicine with you and telling stories about the health field. I know you touched many of your patients lives and helped to create new families by bringing countless children safely into this world. I worked with you for years at Tarzana in L&D. You were always so nice to me. It was a pleasure to work with you. To your family, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to the whole Schiffman family.

Though many years have passed since I last worked with or spent time with Bruce I have many fond memories of him as a doctor and a friend. I am very saddened. It was not his time.
