November 9, 1937 - April 18, 2014
Barbara Ann Dalrymple, age of 76 years and 5 months, passed into life eternal on Friday, April 18, 2014 at her residence in Home Acres, Moorpark, California. Barbara was born on November 9, 1937 to George Earl Clark and Anna Maria Henrietta Clark (Reynders) in North Hollywood, CA and was baptized into the Christian faith. As a child she enjoyed being a Girl Scout, camping with her family, and playing the piano. After graduating from North Hollywood High School and attending Los Angeles Valley College, she was united in marriage to Clarence Virgil Dalrymple on May 19, 1957. Barbara and Clarence lived for 7 years in Simi Valley where they began raising their family before moving to Moorpark.
Barbara was active in the Home Acres 4-H Club with her husband and 4 children. In addition to teaching sewing classes, she assisted her children in numerous projects ranging from forestry, photography and sewing to market animals and animal showmanship. Every year, the family enjoyed attending the Ventura County Fair with their 4-H projects. Barbara also led annual family gardening, canned fruit from her trees, raised chickens, and enjoyed rural living at their home, the D Bar 6 Ranch. The family also enjoyed camping in the Sierra mountains of California and the Redwoods of the Pacific North West.
Barbara volunteered and worked as an instructional assistant in the Moorpark Unified School District. She retired in 2007 as an administrative clerk from the city of Thousand Oaks after working there for 20 years. In her retired life, Barbara enjoyed bird watching, fishing, gardening, reading in book clubs, and her quilting class. She sewed more than 25 quilts, personalizing one for each of her 10 grandchildren. Barbara loved being a grandmother and was affectionately called “Grandma D.” She always made time for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, from babysitting and celebrating birthdays to attending school, sports and musical activities throughout their childhoods.
Barbara was involved her entire life in the Christian church with family and friends, volunteering her time and talents at her church, Prince of Peace, in Thousand Oaks, CA, where she was a member for more than 40 years. She was also active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society, traveling to conventions and supporting the message of Christ around the world.
Following Christ’s example, Barbara gave her love freely without expecting anything in return. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman of Christian conviction and a pillar of strength in times of hardship. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Barbara is survived by 3 children: Christopher Dalrymple of Moorpark; Lori (Dwight) Sabrowsky of Redondo Beach, CA; and Kenneth (Kristin) Dalrymple of Simi Valley.
