Anne Smith of Camarillo, our beloved
mother, grandma, and great-grandma,
joined her husband Jack in heaven on
Oct. 14, 2010. She died in peace with
her daughter by her side.
She was born on July 15, 1926 in
Frankfurt, Germany. She excelled in
track & field holding records in 75 mtr.
dash and high jump for 2 years, and was
awarded a place on the German Natl.
Team bound for the Olympics, but can-
celled due to WWII.
Anne had a God given voice and per-
sued a career in Opera, graduating
with a degree from the Conservatory
of Music in Weimar, Germany. She
survived the war, being bombed out 3
times, losing everything but her voice.
From 1948-1954 she toured with the
U.S.O., singing in American Clubs
all over Germany where she met
and married the love of her life “Jack”
in 1955. She became a “proud citizen”
(as her license plate reads) in 1958.
Anne and Jack traveled the world ex-
tensively through Radioplane and
Northrop, and called Camarillo home
for 39 years. She loved to have fun!
Anne’s many talents and exuberance
for life was amazing. She owned a
property management company and a gas
station; taught Jazzercise and Line
dancing; bowled in leagues most of her
life and handcrafted beautifully. She
adored Dude Ranches, riding, motor-
coaching and being with close friends.
She lived for her daughter Ursula
Sorensen of San Diego, her grand-
daughter Tammie Anne Mirkay of
Virginia and great-grandchildren
Erika and Deric.
