How beautiful this all is.  How positive and sweet.  That's how it was meant to be, and how she would have loved to see it.

Thanks Mom!


Many of you may recall, that in the past at times,
I would write a story, to give my feelings in rhymes.
I'm not a good writer, but I tell it from the heart,
This time however, I just don't know where to start.
You see every time I write, it doesn't matter how come,
The one I'm really writing for, is my dear mum.

I suppose it goes back, to when we were still small,
Mom would read stories, from picture books to us all.
Those earliest memories, can still bring me laughter,
In each story, they always lived "happily ever after".
The granddaddie of stories, the one that made everything right,
Is the one that ended with "...and to all a good night."

Those memories Mom gave us, made us happy and secure,
Not just then, but for a whole lifetime, I am sure.
Writing stories to Mom, can take me back to that time,
My life was just toy trucks, and blocks, it was sublime.
I know now there's something else, I've wanted to do,
That is to say "Thanks Mom", this story's for you.

You taught us that everything, is part of God's creation,
You taught  us love, wonder, and to use imagination.
To be honest and helpful, and never tell a lie.
Those are the things, that keep you happy and spry,
And if I forget, the things you offered to guide me,
I just think of you, and remember you're beside me.

A few other other lessons this story should have in it,
Such as "You can do anything...the ceiling's the limit!"
Another lesson of life, from you my dear Mother,
Is It's all the same: "Six of one, a dozen of the other."
And one more that I keep posted on my fridge,
That I shouldn't worry, its all "water over the bridge"

You raised me to feel that I live in a storybook,
All the people are kind, they're gentle, no one's a crook.
The world is full of fruit, all flowers and rainbows,
All the Forests are green, and only clean water flows.
Its faith in goodness, I suppose I want to say,
You taught me that, and I remember it each day.

And I am old enough now, to have learned this part,
Treasure can not be held, but lives in the heart.
In my heart, you are not gone but here with us today,
This is not a sad time, but another day to chat and play. 
Your spirit and Dad's are here, I can hear yourlaughter,
And we are all together, living happily ever after.

I was so touched by Tuesdays service and celebration of life for a special friend,Pat.I am grateful to have known her,and soon became aware of her love and dedication to her family.We often enjoyed Mom to Mom chats,and her quick smile was always there.A very special time together came when Nancy and Anne brought her along to our family home in Cape May N.J.a few years ago.Pat loved the lunches by the beach and the harbor,and delighted in listening to some local music one night!We feel so privilaged to have known Pat and she will always be in our hearts.

Living out of the area, we didn't know Pat well but did have the opportunity to meet her. She was warm and welcoming to us, interested in our lives and how we knew her daughter Nancy and partner Anne.  But we do know Nancy well, and if she takes after her mom, then we know Pat had a good sense of humor and was fun to be with, took a sincere interest in others, and worked hard to excel. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nancy and the entire Dobras family.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Pat was a dear friend of mine for many years.  We met through our husbands who both worked at General Electric at NelaPark.  Then later  in life, after our dear husbands passed away we formed a lunch group and called it "3 Pats and a Marilyn".  We all so enjoyed each others company and shared many wonderful times over the years.   I can't express how saddened I am by the new of her death and she will always hold a cherished place in my memory.  My condolences to the Dobras family, enjoy each other and the time you spend together.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was just getting to know Pat and was looking forward to working with her through the Women's Club at Avenbury. She will be missed, my prayers are with you, we lost a  funny, smart and kind link in our friendship circle.

Dobras family.  Losing a Mom is like non other.  I pray that you and your family feel God's comfort and that His peace be with you all. May good memories of your Mom bring healing during this sesson of grief.

I just looked at the photo gallery and smiled the whole time.  I never met Pat in person but we were on an email list together.  What a beautiful family she has and what a good life she lived.  Rest in peace now that you are Home again.

How do I say goodbye to someone who made me smile every single day even though we never even met in person?  Pat - I'm going to miss your humor, common sense, extraordinary compassion, and of course, the "family updates" we shared so often. My deepest condolences to your family, who you loved so much.

   I'm sorry I can't be with you at this difficult time.  However, recent foot surgery prevents me from travelling.
   We had such a wonderful visit with Pat this summer.  We laughed, we reminisced and we ate ice cream.  I will always cherish that time with her.
   Among other qualities, she was an excellent cook, a gracious hostess and a wonderful sister-in-law and friend.
   Go on with your lives, but always keep the memories of her close to your heart.
