Mary Ciolfi

passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 89. Born in Akron, OH. Faithful servant of God. Loving and devoted wife of 49 years to Thomas Ciolfi. Survived by her husband, daughters Elaine Smith, and Joanne (Jerry) Bertram; grandchildren: Brian Dancik, Michael (Christina) Bertram, Allyssa Bertram and Christopher Smith. Great Grandmother to Sophia and Lily Dancik. Many nieces and nephews. A lifelong friend to many. Mary joined her brother, Louis Fitros who passed 3 days earlier. They were preceeded in death by their parents, James and Helen (Gorgioladakis) Fitros. Mary was an executive secretary at General Motors Terex Division for 26 years.

Mary was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and an active member in the Yassou Club where she was part of the steering committee organizing lunches and dinners for the seniors. Mary was also a member at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the charitable, philanthropic Philoptochos Club. Mary enjoyed flower arranging and decorating. She enjoyed traveling either by car with Tom or by plane to Greece meeting family.

One of her greatest thrills in life was flying with her grandson, Michael piloting the aircraft. Her grandson Brian blessed her with 2 beautiful great granddaughters who’s laughter and love brought her much joy. She was the best pita maker in the world and everyone would agree. She spent precious time with Allyssa passing along these recipes.

Mary was always welcoming friends and strangers to her table. Her motto: “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere in the world”. Make sure to tip a martini glass in her memory.

Funeral Services will take place at 11am on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 22909 Center Ridge Road Westlake, OH. Interment St. Theodosius Cemetery, Brooklyn, OH
