Loving daughter to Robert and Lucie Abraham nee DeMaioribus (both deceased). Dear sister to Michael (Ruth Ann) Abraham. Godmother to Sarah Pannitto. Cherished cousin to Michele Ward-Baker, Mark Manolio, Meribeth Pannitto, Mona Bolander, Matthew Manolio, Melissa Harvey, Christopher DeMaioribus and Susan DeMaioribus. Loving Aunt and dear friend to many.
Debbie started her life with the odds stacked against her. Yet, she chose to live life to the fullest. She had the leading role in a small production of The Wizard of Oz when she was young and was forever known by her dad a “Dorothy”. From that moment on, she was hooked!! She was a lifelong General Hospital fan, participated as a swimmer in the transplant Olympics, traveled, loved to go to casinos, adored her dog Tinkerbell, was a snappy dresser, was present at the birth of her god daughter and so much more.
No matter what life threw at Debbie, she always had a smile on her face, a positive attitude and so much love in her heart. However, for those who know her best, she also had a huge stubborn streak!! I think that is what kept her going for all these years. The moment she was born, she was handed to her father. Her Grandma Abraham immediately turned to him and told him to take Debbie to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She had her first surgery less than 24 hours after her birth. It was never thought that she would live past the age of 3, but Debbie had other ideas. Over the years, surgeries became the norm for Debbie. The most important surgery occurred on July 20, 1983. Michael, Debbie’s only sibling, gave Debbie the gift of life. He gave her one of his kidneys. Michael was a perfect match! Now almost 60 years later and a total of 95 surgeries, Debbie has left this worldly place and a not so perfect body behind, as a beautiful soul, to join the many family members who have gone before her.
Good Bye Debbie, we will miss you deeply.
