Patricia "Pat" Ellender, age 76, of Westlake, Louisiana passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by immediate family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was born on July 23, 1948 in Leesville, LA to Hartford and Lorrianne Bass.
Pat was native of Leesville, grew up in Port Arthur, TX and spent the last 56 years in Westlake, LA. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1966 and then attended Lamar University. Pat spent her working years in the banking and medical field. She dedicated her free time to serving the community and the great citizens of Westlake. Pat truly loved jitter bugging to her husband T-Tom's swamp pop music and watching the Dallas Cowboys and LSU play football. The love that Pat had for her family, friends, and strangers was like no other. Her tough love was tough and her tender love was the absolute best. To know her was to love her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Tommy Ellender; two children, Rob Ellender (Heather Arnold) and Ashleigh Ellender (Jason Mitchell); six grandchildren, Kelsey Ellender-Barthel, Dillon Ellender, Emily Smith, Bryson Smith, Mason Conrad, and Kaiden Ellender; four great grandchildren, Kallen and Kollins Barthel, Forrest and Ellie Grace Chaisson; sister, Ann Butaud (Jimbo); and brother, Mike Bass; brother-in-law, Sam Ellender, Jr. (Deborah); sisters-in-law, Susie Harrington, Judy VanZant (Jon), and Cindy Dodson (Guy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded is in death by her parents Hartford and Lorrianne Bass; brothers, Pete Bass and Ronnie Bass; sister, Nan Gregg; mother and father-law, Louise (Weezie) and Sam Ellender, Sr.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral of Westlake on Thursday, November 21, 2024 beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, St. Patrick's Hospital and Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care through Pat's difficult journey.
