John Rutherford Jr.

He was born in Creole on July 9, 1938 to John Elmer and Eunice Rutherford. He went home to be with his heavenly Father on December 29, 2010 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital with his wife and friends by his side. Mr. Rutherford graduated from Creole High School and McNeese State University , where he was a member of ROTC. Until his retirement in 1989, he was employed by the State of La. , Department of Probation and Parole. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church in Westlake . He was an avid weight-lifter and held many titles, including "Mr. Gulf Coast Novice".

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Berly Rutherford, one step daughter, Lisa Chapman and one granddaughter Gillian Rhys Chapman-Brown, both of Dallas , Tx . He is also survived by several aunts and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at Bellview Baptist Church Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jaceson Johnson presiding. Visitation will be Friday, December 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. also at the church. Burial will be in Rutherford Cemetery in Creole. Memorials can be made to Bellview Baptist Church , 507 John Stine Rd. in Westlake .
