He was a native of Canby, Minnesota. He has been a resident of Westlake for 58 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1963 where he was stationed in England at Brize Norton Air Force base. He was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5755 in Westlake. He also worked for Penrod/Ensco drilling company for 31 years as a crane operator. He loved basketball and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Guthrie, mother, Bernice Wallace, sisters, Rose Mary McNally and Patricia Guthrie, brothers, Richard “Art” and James Guthrie and grandson, Adam Camel Jr, best friend and brother-in-law, A.J. Guidry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Beverly Guidry-Guthrie of Westlake; 2 sons, Tony Guthrie of Westlake, and Joe (Carrie) Guthrie of Oklahoma City,OK ; 2 daughters, Denise (Harvey) Dejean of Duson, La, and Anne Marie (Adam) Camel of Ragley, LA; sisters, Lillian Eggers of Prior Lake, MN and Maxine Halsey of St. Paul, MN and brother, Robert Guthrie of Anoka, MN; 3 grandchildren, Michael White, Courtney Spell and Jacob Guthrie; 3 great grandchildren, Brady White, Logan and Bentley Spell.
His Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, in St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake. Father Albert Borel will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5p.m. - 9p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 in Hixson Westlake Chapel with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday at the chapel from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
