Bobby Lee Smith, age 85, of Westlake, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born on November 28,1938 in Shreveport LA to his parents Basile and Linnie Smith.
Bobby worked in various local refineries for over 30 years as a pipefitter and safety man. He served his community as a volunteer fireman and he was a certified EMT. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Westlake where he was a long-time board member.
Bobby loved fishing, camping, vacationing, playing cards and dominoes, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a great storyteller, and loved everything Elvis, and he would impersonate him occasionally to entertain family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Basile and Linnie Smith, Sister Pat McInnis, son Gary Lynn Smith, and granddaughter Contessa Cooper.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years, Peggy Smith of Westlake; his daughter, Keena Cooper of Westlake; son Cary Smith and his wife Bethany and their children Brooklyn and Drew all of Westlake; Granddaughter Amber Palir and her husband Kent of Nashville, Tennessee; Granddaughter Suzzane Smith of Jennings, LA. as well as two great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
He is also survived by his brothers; Jim Smith of Vidor, Texas, William Wayne Smith of Pinehurst, Texas, Kenneth Smith and his wife Tammy of Tarkenton, Texas, George Smith of Dallas, Texas, and his sister Becky Hamilton and her husband Ronald of Ragley, La.
The family will welcome the public for visitation Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake from 5pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume at First Pentecostal Church in Westlake, Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 2pm until time of funeral service at 3pm.
