Bertha Mae Burgess

Bertha graduated with a Bachelor's in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. Bertha loved baking, growing flowers and taking care of her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crossword puzzles in her spare time.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Ivory Slater Burgess Sr., sons, Ivory Slater "Buster" Burgess Jr., Alfred, Dennis, a daughter, Naomi Harrington, great-grandsons, Cory Wes Burgess and Gary Wayne Thompson Jr., her parents and all of her siblings.

Survivors include a son, Joshua Burgess and wife, Katherine; daughter, Sarah Burgess; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-great-grandson.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake.

Her funeral service will begin at Noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Hixson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.
