Somehow life gets busy and then something you see or hear reminds you of a friend who has passed. Is it them reaching out to touch you?
I missed the 14th anniversary of Todd's passing this year on May 25 but am able to leave this small note to let Lisa and the family know I still remember Todd and hope you are all doing well. I imagine the kids are not longer kids and Todd would beam with pride at who they have become.

Years fly by, you are missed and remembered. I am always grateful for your presence in my life. Your ability to make me laugh at things and enjoy the world from a certain carefree place keeps you with me.  Steve

Even though you've been gone for almost half my lifetime, you're still in my life. I work at a local cafe making drinks that I know you would love. I cook more and remember that with every dish, you can never have too much garlic. Every Halloween, we watch (and sometimes catch live showings) of Rocky Horror Picture Show, something that always reminds me of you.
Every so often, I put on Frank Sinatra and still tear up every time My Way comes on.
You're always with me, you giant goof ball. I'll always be proud to be your daughter.

9 years have passed since you had to leave us, Todd. I have had many new wonderful experiences since then that I wished I could share with you as I know we would get a good laugh out of much of it.   My birthday has had a tinge of sadness to it ever since that day and I remember you amongst all the well wishes. 


You think you are only a phine call or a FB search away from someone. When I searched for Todd his obituary came up. I was devastated.  We were close friends in highschool and remained friends after. I had the honor of getting to know Lisa as well. Thank you Lisa for responding to my email and sending me this photo. Again, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Your father was and shall always remain very important to me for all he taught me during those years together so long ago.

I only knew Todd for a short time beginning in 1996 when we performed together in Fiddler on the Roof in Burnaby.  I was immediately warmed by his beautiful heart, his loving soul, and his wonderful sense of humour!  He was as supportive as he was talented.  He not only helped me in so many ways with what was my very first theatre experience, but he later came to see some other "firsts" of mine only to lend his caring support and wisdom to help a friend and colleague.

I think of him often, and just found out about his passing from a mutual friend at a rehearsal.  I was and still am stunned.  I don't understand how such a beautiful light can be taken so young.  I feel sadness for his passing, and I have to say that I feel grateful for having shared even a small portion of his love and light.  He gave me gifts I carry with me always.

I and my family wish you all loving, healing peace in knowing that Todd and his love will never truly pass, and that all he was and still is will alway be here with his cherished memories.  May you always remember his beauty and celebrate the glory of all his accomplishments on Earth, no mater how small or large they are.  Todd was here and is now in heaven as the Angel he always has been and always will be.

 Todd Redmond was the kind of person that would do anything for anyone. That is why I find it VERY IMPORTANT to let Lisa, Tina, Michael and Asia know that I am here for you no matter what. I will be here for you like you all have been there for our soccer family. Todd had the most Angel spirit I had ever seen and was so enthusiastic about even the smallest details. Somehow, he made every girl on the team feel like they were something more, that they were better than "good enough". Personally, he was one of few people that actually made me feel better about how I played defensively on the all weather gravel, the grass or the turf. Whether it was crazy car rides to away games, or the intense hooting and hollering that he sent out from the sidelines, I will never forget the memories we shared. Know that your presence was treasured and that you lit up every room you walked into. I know what it is like to lose a father (my father passed away when I was 3) and let me tell you it's not easy. We need to face this together, because whether we win or lose, there's one thing that we always have. Each other.
 

Our next soccer season as the Blue Angels (yes, we are going to change our name)will be dedicated to Todd Redmond. We're going to the top this year,we're gonna win for Todd.

Finally, I would like the Redmond family to know that they are never alone.

I first met Todd when I started coaching Asia's soccer team almost 9 years ago, first on the Orcas and later the Blue Angels, and Todd quickly became the teams' biggest fan.  As mentioned elsewhere in these pages, Todd was known for "bellowing" in his "booming" voice on the sidelines for every game no matter where the game was or what the weather was doing.  As a coach there are times you need to communicate to the girls on the field such things as instructions ("Stop hugging the other team"), important information ("While you were hugging the other team, they scored a goal") and encouragement ("Way to hug out there!").  Todd's contribution was always the latter. And he made a point of providing positive encouragement to the players that were not necessarily scoring the goals or making the fancy plays, but the players that were just out there working hard and doing their best.  Todd's words of encouragement made every girl on the team feel special.

Although I did not know Todd well outside of soccer, you can tell alot about people by their kids.  One thing you first learn about Asia is that everyone loves her.  If she comes late to practice, you need to take a 15 minute break so everyone on the team can hug her and get up to date on the latest gossip even if they only saw her an hour before.  She is always smiling, laughing and joking (but never at the expense of someone else) and gets along with everyone, just like her dad.

Asia is not necessarily the tallest player on the field but she always, always, always plays with the biggest heart and in her case, a big heart is clearly hereditary, from both parents.

Todd, we will miss your spark on the sidelines but we will never forget you.

Our family lived next door to Bunny & Gerry Redmond on Jefferson Ave. for many years & we knew Todd & Lisa & Marc & all of the Redmond family.
Todd was an great husband to Lisa & Father to Tina, Asia & Michael. The joy that filled his heart when we saw him pick up those children & play with them will be forever embedded in our memories.
Family life meant everything to Todd. He showed this in his many visits to his loving parent's home bringing the three children with him.
Todd had many talents other than "That Magnificent Voice" of his that we will "Forever Hear" ..... along with his acting talents ie : "The Phanton of The Opera."
Another one of Todd's talents was woodworking. He could put together the most amazing gorgeous furnishings !
One of which Laurel still has & loves. 
Todd's passing has left a 'keepsake of love' for all of us to share our feelings 
openly about Todd. 
One can only see by the many expressions of admiration, friendship & love that have been left in the Memorial Guestbook just how much he will be missed.

My dad was the greatest man in the world he was my hero and i looked up to him when i woke up that morning i was hoping he was safe in his bed, he is terribly missed by all of us and his spirit is still remaining over al of us. I was so saddened by the news of Todd's passing but also warmed by the visit we had three weeks ago. We shared so many fun times together in Music Theatre at WVSS especially South Pacific. He was Emile DeBecque to my Nellie Forbush. Those were special times and I have many treasured memories. BTW, those productions were so amazing for a Secondary School. I have never seen anything like it elsewhere... thank you Barry Rector!!!  Nice to see their picture together in your photo collection... and many other great shots of Todd. He was a straight arrow and called things as he saw them, with his usual brash sense of humour which was absolutely refreshing. He will be missed.

Lisa, you and the kids were the best part of his life, he never made that a secret, and I agree. He was lucky to have you and three wonderful children: Tina, Asia and Michael. I was so thrilled to see Todd walk in the door of our 30 year high school reunion on May 14th. I had not seen him in years and was so glad he came. We had a hug and a chat and took lots of photos together. I was in music theatre in school with Todd, but mostly sat back and watched him go to town. He was a pro and stood out from all the rest. Todd passed on the same day my oldest sister Wendy passed after a 14 month battle with cancer. Maybe, somehow, they crossed together holding hands even though they never knew each other on earth. My husband Steve Hardman is deeply effected by Todd's death, as they too were really good friends way back in the old days of high school. We, as a family know great loss and are feeling everyday of pain with you. Time will ease it, even though it's hard to understand that now. Know that your friends care and are thinking of you each and everyday.

what are we shocked by the news that our best friend Todd is deceased. Sept last year he visit us in Holland for the wedding of Joyce and Hans, we talked on the phone 3 weeks ago. Todd will live on in our memories, I remember his humour brought light to a dull day in those old school days. I may not have knowen Todd very well, although I understand how hard it is when a family member passes. I do know Michael Redmond though, I would just like to say that; I wish all of you the best and hope that the Redmind family will pull-through. I would also like to add that Michael has been so Strong, and I am pround of him. Lest we Forget...

What I remember and cherish the most about Todd was his infectious laugh and cheese-eating grin... and his sly sauciness... oh, and his voice, his amazing voice and his lambfest with seared ahi tuna...and bear-hugs,  and the night he made an incredible Thai dinner at our house (we used every dish we owned to serve that meal)... and I remember the the early days when Lisa first introduced him to Chris and me.  Hey Todd, do you remember the Christmas cards and photos from that weird family you met at the Ambleside but couldn't quite remember, heheh...Good times...fun times, great memories... wish we could have more.  We'll miss you.

Todd was my first real boyfriend in Grade 9. We went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show every weekend along with Tracy Holmes and Lisa Pantages.  I also was in Music Theatre with him and was amazed at what incredible talent he had.  The world has lost a shining star.  My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.  We lost touch but the great memories will last forever. Keep on singing Todd.  We will hear you in the wind.

I knew todd through my sister deborah and remember he was so nice and quite funny. He had an amazing voice as i heard him in musicals at wv high. So sorry for your loss.

What a shock to hear the news. Todd was such an amazingly fun and talented individual. So caring towards others and a terrific friend.

As I opened the paper last night, I discovered the very sad news that Todd had past. Like some others, I had lost touch with him over the years but knew that somewhere out there he was belting out a song and flashing his famous smile. It was wonderful to see how much love he had in his life with his wife, and his kids, his parents, and everyone else  I am so very very sorry for their loss and for the fact that he left so early. It is a given that Todd was a very remarkable person who contributed to the lives of everyone he ever met.

Todd has been a great inspirition to me throughout my life here in Vancouver. I have known Todd and his brother Marc since 1972 when I moved next door since coming from Czechoslovakia in 1970..
My association with Marc and Todd has been rewarding , and I would have loved to have them both as brothers. I am so very sorry for your loss Lisa and to your children. Todd was a great friend to me . His witt and quick sence of humour was like having a younger brother to me.
I would like to give my thank you to gerrald and Irine in sheltering me for what seemed a life time to you both. I tried to escape my duty of gardening with my dad rather than playing table hockey with Marc. or just ahnging around your house. I preferred the hockey.But I am very greatful for my time with all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Todd. I knew him in school. He had an amazing voice in music theatre, was a very carrying and well liked person and a friend to all. He will be sadly missed.

Todd was so clearly loved by so many, devoted to his family..that is what his biggest legacy will be..prayers..

I had the pleasure of hearing Todd's incredible voice as I was a regular B.C. Boys Choir attendee. I don't know if he ever knew how I was so comforted by his voice during rough times of my life - my mother was dying of leukemia, and it was Todd's voice among so many other wonderful voices that I found solace in. I was so thrilled to hear him in Phantom of the Opera and so proud of his accomplishments. His voice brought pleasure to so many people - and I am blessed for having been fortunate to have met him; heard him and his gift in allowing so many to hear his voice. Thank you.

I knew Todd in high school... singing in Music/Theatre and Spectrum. Such an amazing voice. He kept us all smiling. Bumped into him a few years later, when I was home for a visit as my father had just passed away. Todd was so kind to me, just the right person to meet at that time. Like others, I am sorry it was not in the cards for us to keep in touch.

Todd and Lisa were friends and fellow parents as our kids went to Larson Elementary school together...we had the honour and priviledge of having Todd's booming voice at every soccer game his daughter Asia played in, as he encouraged her and all her teammates (our daughter included) often in the pouring rain and cold wintry weather conditions....always a character, always a positive influence, and with an unmistakable flare for the humouress and theatrical themes that were so much a part of who he was...he will be deeply missed by all in our community...

My deepest condolences. I taught Todd at West Van High. He was always so full of life, laughing, the center of attraction and infinitely talented. My heart goes out to his family.

I have so many fond memories of Todd.  We both grew up on Jefferson in W.Van., and we went to the same elementary and high schools.  We shared many happy times; playing pool in his parents basement, going boating or just hanging out.  We were also in music theater together.  OMGosh, his voice; I can still hear it now; was absolutely amazing. I get chills just remembering his rich, deep voice.  Todd had the most infectious smile and quick wit which kept all that knew him on their toes.  There are so many antics that Todd and his brother Marc used to get up to, way back when; but one thing never changed, Todd was a good friend to anyone who was lucky enough to know him.  The last time I saw Todd was a chance meeting when my mum and I were at the Q.E., several years ago.  He had not changed a bit from high school.  Still the same wonderful person I remembered.  Like Nerissa I am stunned; numb actually; and I feel like there is an void now that he is gone.  So many times I had tried to find him so we could reconnect.  I am so sorry we never did get the chance to meet again.  I cannot imagine what Lisa and his family must be going through; but I am sure they know he was so very loved and respected.  Time will lessen the pain and only the happy memories and  will remain.  RIP my friend, you will be so very missed.  Kathy

My story of Todd - A new immigrant boy from Czechoslovakia who can't speak much english beyond hello and thank you sits on the curb in shorts and gumboots watching kids play street hockey.  With their mother's support, two of the boys invite him to play even though he dresses oddly and can't communicate with them.  The lonely little czech boy is so happy to be included by these boys.
That little boy was my ex-husband and that gesture meant the world to him.  It helped him begin to embrace his new country, and the family of those two boys who reached out to him.  That Mom was Bunny, and the boys she raised to be that inclusive and overlook the boy's akwardness were Todd and Marc.
Although I have long ago lost contact with your family, I have never lost the memories of time spent with all of you.
My heart weeps for your loss.

I have happy memories of Todd from my youth; we sang, danced and dreamed of our futures. We had aspirations to entertain and perform, I wanted to become a professional dancer, and he a professional singer. We desired to bring joy to people through the delight of our love of our crafts, and for the brief time our paths intersected, I believe we touched quite a few people. May Todd's family take comfort in the joy he gave during his lifetime, and in the memory of the warmth of his voice.

I am sad to hear about Todd. he was a friend, a mentor and one fun guy. i will always have great memories from all the Dramas and musicals produced through West van High. He was a very rare person to me . He always would give his 2 cents, never scared to be honest, and usually always right to me. he was always ready to help out doing lines or to help you find your voice. my family and the entertainment family  will miss you

Todd was my first boyfriend...he was older...also a scandal...(I just read Deborah Foster's entry). I loved his untamed energy, his sincerity to everyone he met (not a judge of people), his spontaneity, his voice (oh, that baritone voice that reached to your ears, found your heart and left residual goosebumps from his vocal gift). I still have his high school ring, and very fond memories. If you go to the beach at Ambleside Park there used to be a twisted wood sculpture, we would sit there for hours together after school...first love seemed like the most powerful thing in the world when a teenager. I wish his loved ones much strength over this loss. I sit here, stunned. So many memories flashing through my mind. Staring at this photo on this Guest Book page, wishing I had found him before this to say hi, and wish him well in life. Have though of him often, and wondered...

Todd and I worked together in the late eighties.He was our opera singing Valet Parking Manager at Monk McQueens Restaurant.I will always remember his calm demeanor and infectious smile when faced irate customers and bent metal.We shared many a good laugh and conversation about his passion for singing and theater.My deepest condolences Todd's family at this difficult time.

I had the pleasure to first meet Todd while we were working on The Phantom Of The Opera together in 1992. We quickly became fast friends and have kept in touch and spent time together often since then. I fondly recall helping build a new cedar deck on the back of Todd & Lisa's house between Phantom stops. Todd was a large and boisterous presence and you only had to meet him to love him. With his booming baritone voice and ever-present infectious laugh, Todd would announce his entrance to a room. I will truly miss my dear friend and my soul weeps. We will be together again Todd. Our bodies die but our souls live on. Our deepest condolences to Lisa and the family.

Todd and I were in music theatre together in high school. He was my first real boyfriend, quite a scandal because I was in Grade 12 and he was in Grade 10! I have wonderful memories of Brigadoon in 1979 as well as our Christmas concerts every year. I particularly remember the time Melanie Pratt (King) and I TP'd his house, so hysterical we had to keep running out to the road to laugh lest we wake his parents. He was funny and loud and full of life. I'm incredibly sad, and my heart goes out to Lisa and all of Todd's family. xo xo xo

Lisa and Todd were business aquaintances and friends.   I enjoyed Todd's hearty laugh and openess. His love for his family was very obvious. He is the only client that ever sang a song for me. Condolences to Lisa and the family.

I knew Todd from high school, he was a really nice guy in a school that was full of not really nice people.  Sorry to hear of his loss, sincere condolences to his family.
