BAILEY, Kathleen December 14, 1919 – January 7, 2012. With much love and deep sorrow we announce the passing of Kathleen Bailey. Born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England, Kathleen emigrated in 1953 to Australia and New Zealand, in 1957 permanently settling in Canada. Kathleen is wholly missed by Jim her husband of 70 years, her children, Lesley (Michael); Barry (Martha), grandchildren Jennifer (Cory); James (Heidi) and great grandchildren Frank and Maisie, along with many friends and relatives both here and abroad. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, family was precious to her. Kathleen lived a wonderfully rich and full life. Spending 35 years vacationing annually, she made Hawaii her second home every winter. Kathleen loved the sun, the soft warm sand of Waikiki beach, swimming in the ocean and strolling along the Canal at dusk hand-in-hand with Jim. Her many passions included walking, gardening, reading, needlepoint, badminton, tennis and swimming. She especially loved watching tennis and following the careers of her favourite players. Kathleen was thrilled to attend a Wimbledon tournament during one particular highlight vacation. A proud supporter of numerous charities including the SPCA and The Salvation Army, her heart was big and her love of animals infinite. A special thank-you to Dr Mike Knight for providing exceptional care and compassion. Kathleen spent her final days happy at home, and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. No services will be held. Please remember Kathleen with love. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or The Salvation Army would be appreciated.
