December 29, 1930 – August 24, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Carrell. He passed peacefully on August 24, 2021 at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver.
Loved and greatly missed by wife, Grace, children Ginny (Leroy), Karen (Jim), Brent (Shelly), grandchildren Christopher (Kait), Andrew (Alison), and great-grandchildren Eilish, Kieran, and Riley.
Jack lived a full and varied life. Including enlisting in the army and working in Ottawa and Whitehorse, where he met Grace. They married in New Westminster on September 25, 1953, then moved to Vancouver. Jack found out they were going to be parents on the way to buy a new car. Plans changed abruptly and instead they bought a lot in West Vancouver on Gleneagles golf course. As Jack was working for Lewis Construction, he helped design and build their family home, which they happily lived in for 65 years.
Jack had several careers, but sales was his forte. He had just the right amount of schmooze and just the right amount of news, to be an excellent salesman. He worked for several different pharmaceutical companies over the years as a sales and regional manager.
Jack enjoyed his children because they were a constant source of amusement for him; he loved to tease and joke. He was a good-natured, optimistic, top o’ the morning kind of guy. He would recite a Robert Frost poem or sing you a song at the drop of a hat. He loved to tell a joke and he had a million of them.
Jack and Grace golfed for years and when he was no longer able, his hobby became searching for lost golf balls and re-gifting them to golfers, often with a Werthers and a chat.
Party on, Jack! Keep your powder dry. You will be missed on the green side of the grass.
