HAM, Jeannie Marlene (nee McGrandle) Born June 19, 1944 passed away December 10th, 2020 at the age of 76 years. Jeanne has gone to join her husband, James Garey Ham, who passed away in 1999. Survived by daughters Arlene Reid (Chris) of Winnipeg and Cheryl Ham, her travel companion and caregiver for many years, and her grandsons Jacob, Maxwell, and Ryder Reid.
Jeannie was born in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Vancouver in 1957. After her marriage to Garey in 1966, she and Garey moved to the Deep Cove area of North Vancouver, where she and Garey became very active members of the community. Jeannie supported Garey in all of his Mount Seymour Lions Club activities including setting up and managing the Mount Seymour Lions Housing Society Admin office from 1990 to 2001. Jeannie was an active member of Girl Guides of Canada from 1981 to 1993 where she held many positions including Brown Owl for 12 years. After recovery from Garey’s death in 1999, and other health issues she became an active member of the Deep Cove Lions Club and rejoined Girl Guides of Canada thru the Deep Fog Trefoil Guild, where she continued her work in the community. Jeannie loved her flower garden and passed her knowledge and love onto Cheryl. She loved her sports and loved cheering on the Lions and the Canucks with Cheryl, as season ticket holders. Her greatest joy was travelling especially to Maui and Las Vegas. She also loved cruising anywhere the sun was shining! She had great organizational skills and could prepare a dinner for 50 people easier than for 2 and was renowned for her roast beef dinner.
Mom, we love you and will miss you, but know you are happy because you have been reunited with Dad. You will be missed by all the lives you have touched and people you have helped over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation or North Shore Rescue in Jeannie’s name.
Mom and Dad are together again!
