Jenny was born in Carmunnock, Lanarkshire, Scotland on October 17,1929.
She studied and mastered the pipe organ in her teenage years. Jenny became the Organist and Choirmaster at Springfield Parish Church in Bishopbriggs at the age of 19. She continued to pursue her love of music through college and graduated from the Trinity College of Music in Glasgow, Scotland in 1959 and taught music at Airdrie Academy in Scotland.
Jenny decided to immigrated to Canada in 1961. She settled in British Columbia where she was welcomed by extended Canadian family. She took a music teacher position at Ridgeway Elementary in North Vancouver School District 44. She spent the next 15 years as both a music teacher (Canyon Heights and Highland Elementary) and substitute teacher in North Vancouver, with the exception of a year teaching in London England. In 1977 Jenny became the York House Junior School Music Teacher, a position she held until retirement in late 1988.
Jenny was the Organist and Choirmaster at West Vancouver Presbyterian Church from the early 1970’s to mid 2000’s in addition to being an Church Elder, Sunday School Coordinator and active member.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years; John Ridley Cooper and her parents; Agnes Kennedy (nee Scott) and Walter Kennedy and her niece Katherine Slieker.
Jenny is survived by her son; Ian Kennedy Cooper of Vancouver, and her daughter and husband; Gillian Scott Cooper and Christopher Chu of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
Grandchildren: Spencer Kennedy Cooper and Liam Winston Cooper of Vancouver, and Sabrina Kennedy Chu and Kylene Ridley Chu of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Siblings: her brother William Kennedy of Newton Mearns, Scotland and her sister Elizabeth McGowen Slieker (nee Kennedy) and husband John Slieker of West Vancouver.
Nieces and Nephews: Douglas Kennedy and his wife Isabel of Newton Mearns, Scotland; Sandra Watt and her husband Adrian of Edinburgh, Scotland; Ruth Slieker of Toronto and Robin Slieker of Vancouver Island.

Memorial Service for Janet (Jenny) Coupland Cooper will be held in the summer. Dates and time to follow on this site at a future time.
