We celebrate the life of Chu Hsi, who has joined his beloved youngest daughter, Gloria, in heaven. He will always be remembered as an ever loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
Through his 85 years he has endured many obstacles but overcame them all with grace and dignity. In 1964, he moved to Canada to complete his PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Ottawa. There he met the love of his life, Sherly. Together they built a life for their three daughters in Ottawa and then St. Albert.
Chu had a successful career in oil sands technology and spent the majority of his time at AOSTRA. He was integral in fostering a prosperous collaboration with partners in China with regards to oil extraction technology. After retiring, he and Sherly were able to escape to the warmer climate of Vancouver, where he enjoyed all the west coast had to offer for the last 15 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Sherly, 2 daughters, Angela (Brian, grandchildren Sierra and Emily) and Belinda (Peter, grandchildren Charlie and Jackson). He was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Gloria.
In his final days, he was surrounded by what he loved most, his family. We are grateful for all of the compassion his caregivers provided in the last hours of his life.
There will be no service, but the family will celebrate his life privately.
