Carol Anne Shumas (The Naive Painter) passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021. Born, raised and lived in West Van. A woman of many gifts, Carol was a prolific artist and constantly creating right up until her final days. She had many exhibits of her paintings in Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec and New York. Through her paintings and tapestries she was a storyteller, costume and set designer and wanted the viewer to feel like they were watching a play or musical. Every one of her paintings is a celebration of life. She also had a beautiful voice and was a great cook , serving everything with humor and a glass half full. She is survived by her annoying but loving sister Linda (Lambie, Lucy) and predeceased by father Fred and mother May. She will be missed by many friends and relatives, but will live on in the vast amount of work she left behind. A Celebration of her life and art will be announced at a later time. Special thanks go out to B who was a major support and friend to Carol (Mas). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation of Canada.
