Mr. Bruce Harvey Messecar

On the evening of September 5, 2013, Bruce passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer while being attended by friends and staff members of the palliative care ward at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. His passing coincided with a spectacular lightning storm which continued to light up the city for a number of hours afterwards.

Bruce was born on November 9, 1950 in Kenora, Ontario. Bruce was predeceased by his mother Jeanne and father Donald. He is survived by his brother Derek of London.

Special thanks go out to his friends Maggie and Norah for helping him so much over the past years and to the wonderful staff at St. Paul’s Palliative Unit, (particularly Reda and Tina who were there at the end), for making his transition as comfortable as possible.
