Arlene Joanne Boreham

Arlene Joanne Boreham (nee Wensley), born December 18, 1932, in Calgary, Alberta, to Alfred and Miriam (nee Gray), passed away peacefully in North Vancouver, on October 27, 2022, at age 89. Pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, John Francis (Jack) Boreham, in 2002. She will be remembered with much love. Cherished mother of 6, Michael (Beth), Susan Singer (Barry), Cathy Stewart (Dave), Joanne Konar (Kevin), Patti Macdonald (Gord), Darcy (Kelly), adored grandmother of 16, Jamie Boreham (Stacey), Jennie Jacques (Adam), Kevin Boreham, Kelsey Singer (Adam Grossi), Zack Singer, Dana Siddle (Rob), Christine Desai (Shaan), Brett Stewart (Morgan), Matthew Konar (Gina), Lindsay Konar, Adam Konar (Nadia), Kathleen Konar, Caitlin Macdonald, Emily Jamieson (Kenny), Allison Macdonald, and Sam Macdonald, beloved great-grandmother of 12, Beau and Bradie Boreham, Harper Boreham, Jack, Thomas and Charlie Siddle, Norah and Isla Desai, Tristan and Gemma Konar, and Theodore and Adaline Jamieson. Arlene is also survived by her brothers Ron (Lorraine), and Larry (Marg), nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be greatly missed by her dear friends.

Arlene moved with her family to Winnipeg, and then on to Vancouver, while still a child. She graduated from Our Lady’s School in Vancouver, now known as O.L.P.H. Once she and Jack married, they raised their family in North Vancouver. She worked as the secretary at St. Anthony’s Church, and later, Christ the Redeemer Church, upon its opening, retiring at the spry age of 75. She has been a long-time member of the CWL.

Arlene lived a life of faith, which graced her with strength and comfort. She had endless love for and pride in her family, lived joyfully, and truly made the most of her time on earth. She was keenly interested and involved in the goings-on of all her family. When she knew of others in need, she found a quiet way to offer support. She was an avid reader, creative and artistic, skilled at sewing and knitting, as evidenced by the cozy sweaters that she made as babies came along. Her interests were many. Gardening brought her much pleasure, and she was grateful to have travelled to some beautiful places with family and friends. She had a warm, vibrant smile, a wonderful sense of humour, and was always ready for an adventure. Hers was a home where all were made to feel welcome, whether by good conversation which included some story-telling, or good food.

Prayers at 7:00 pm, Sunday, November 6th. Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Msgr. G. Smith at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 7th. Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 599 Keith Rd., West Vancouver. Reception following the funeral, in the meeting room. Interment at Capilano View Cemetery at a later date.
