Anne Bell, age 88 years, passed away
peacefully at her home in West Vancouver on
November 10, 2017. She was predeceased by
her husband, John. Anne is survived by
several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
nephews, all living in England. Until recently,
when travel became more difficult, she
visited them regularly. She enjoyed traveling
and relished visits with her family. Anne was a
very interesting woman. She became an
electrical engineer at a time when it was not a
profession usually taken up by women. When
she attended university in England she was
one of very few women in her class. She
worked as an engineer for many years in
Canada, knew her stuff and always gave
repairmen a run for their money. Anne was an
accomplished seamstress, making her own
patterns for her wardrobe with fabrics
collected on her travels. She enjoyed working
in her garden, taking ceramic lessons,
reading and entertaining her friends. She
loved her wickedly strong coffee during the
day and a glass of smooth red wine to round
out her evening. Anne Bell was intelligent and
smart. Fiercely independent, stubborn,
indomitable, loyal and steadfast. Simply, a
good person. She will be missed. Friends are
invited to gather on December 14, 2017 at
3:00 p.m. at the Hollyburn Funeral Home,
1807 - Marine Drive, West Vancouver to share
memories and stories.
