On the day of September 16th, 2023, our Father in Heaven called a great man home. William Fredrick Todd was officially given the names of his two grandfathers. He is known to others as Bill, brother, son, friend, officer, father, dad, sir, and more. But his two favorite are husband and family patriarch.
Carl Austin Todd and Pauline Josephine Johnston were blessed with their first child on Tuesday, April 29th, 1941 in Stockton California. Bill is the eldest of the three boys. He is a leader and has opinions to share, so decided to join the United States Marine Corps. Bills active duty was during 1959-1963. Towards the end of his active duty, another Marine introduced Bill to the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Before that week was finished, a baptismal date was prepared. The year following after Bill was baptized; his faith grew to where he became a missionary to teach the people of Argentina. Soon after Bill returned home from serving our Lord, in the Spring of 1967, he met his bride to be at his best friends party, and had that engagement agreed upon before that next week was finished. Bill married Claudia Leigh Crockett on September 9th, 1967 in the Oakland LDS Temple.
Bill studied chemistry at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. So after the wedding, it was strait to school. Working hard at being a student, husband, breadwinner, and soon to be father of two, Bill was accepted into the Utah Highway Patrol in January 1970. Where he did his best in every position held. Being able to utilize the things he learned as a Marine, in school, and more until his retirement in July 1994. He then worked at Harper Construction as the Safety Supervisor doing his best to care for those drivers and trucks.
Bill likes giving as much as he can to his family. With that, he worked as efficiently as possible at many other places. For more years than most can say, Bill has had a secret name. This is his true self, anyone who really knows Bill, they will agree that he truly embodies the name of Father Christmas and all of the other names that go with it.
Bill loves to tease, joke, play and watch sports, as well as being a stickler to schedules, lists, and time. He enjoys drinking colas and milk, and yet food is his passion. He loves all food! Especially from any Spanish speaking country, and from other countries.
While Bill had served as a missionary in his younger years, he considers it a high privilege to always continue to teach the gospel to his loved ones with every breath he has.
Bill is survived by his brother Gerald Todd. His beloved wife Claudia Todd. His six children: Debra Itabashi (Naoto), Stephanie Peake (Jeffrey), Lori Williams (Dee), Roy Todd (Jessica), Carl Todd, and Michael Todd. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 14 great Grandchildren. Bill will have the special opportunity to meet, greet, and send off his next two great grand babies to join his family’s ever growing legacy this coming November.
Viewing will be held Friday, September 29th, from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday the 30th 9:30-10:30am at Valley View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00am also at Valley View Funeral Home: 4335 West 4100 South, WVC Ut 84120
