Veloy Diane Wyatt, age 79, passed away in her sleep on December 24, 2024 in the home of her loving daughter in Vernal, UT. Diane was born April 25, 1945 to John Deloy Carter, Sr. and Mildred Hatch. She was the seventh of twelve children and had a wonderful childhood. She had fond memories of their swimming pool, being allowed to play her brother's stereo in exchange for cleaning the basement, and singing in a trio with her two best friends.
Diane graduated from Granite High School, then attended two years at the University of Utah where she met Rick McKinney. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1966. While married to Rick he served in the military, so Diane had the opportunity to travel around with him, eventually ending up in Alaska where she gave birth to her first child, Justine. Later Diane divorced Rick and returned to Utah where she was a single parent raising her daughter. It was at this point she decided she needed to find a vocation that would allow her to be at home raising her daughter and be able to make a living. She became a seamstress making beautiful draperies eventually being featured in the Utah Parade of Homes. In 1973 she married Richard Wyatt and they had five children together, Dee, Curtis, Jessie, Karmon, and Garnett. Diane was a fearless protector, the glue that kept her family together, and her children always knew they were loved. If she was angry with you, there was a good reason for it!!
Diane could almost always be found with a loving smile and never complained. She also had unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father, this faith was instilled in her children. She always said, "when the chips are down, family is all you have," which is something her children try to live by.
Diane struggled with mental illness for more than 25 years, had Parkinson’s disease, and other physical ailments, but through it all she hardly complained. While we are heartbroken she is gone from this earth, she is now whole and with her loving family members. She was preceded in death by her son, Dee, husband, Richard, and both of her parents along with several of her siblings. She is survived by her children: Justine Eastin, Curtis Wyatt, Jessie (Josh) Gilbert, Karmon (Scott) Stueben, Garnett Wyatt, her grandchildren: Justin, Gage, Sammi (Jake), Davis, Haven, Emma, Wyatt and great-grandchildren Lilly & Violet.
We want to thank the staff at Canyon Home Care & Hospice in Vernal, Utah for taking such amazing care of her over the last year of her life, we couldn’t have done it without them. Diane was an amazing human being and will be deeply missed.
