Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Stanley Dean Ralph (Dean) passed away November 21, 2022, at the age of 89 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dean was born October 8, 1933, in Franklin, Idaho to Stanley S. Ralph and Bessie Leishamn Ralph.
Dean met his sweetheart Dorine, at the Blue Cottage, an ice cream parlor in Salt Lake City, Dean would order popsicles and Dorine felt bad for him. She would bring him a sundae or a banana split instead and pay with her own money. After about nine months, Dean asked Dorine to a Saint Patrick’s Day dance. This was the beginning of their life together. Dean and Dorine were sealed on August 29, 1960, in the Salt Lake temple and he spent the next 62 years loving and protecting Dorine with all his heart.
Dean was a man with few words but spoke volumes with his service to his country, church family and friends. He served in the Army from 1954 – 1956. He faithfully served in the Jordan River temple after retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved serving in the temple, especially in the initiatory work. He was well loved and respected among the temple workers and patrons. Dean loved to do yardwork and was known to mow and edge countless yards or remove snow for family, friends and neighbors. At 87 years, he was still providing this service which brought him great joy.
Dean was a humble man who only needed simple things to be happy. He was known to say to others, “keep smiling” or “is everybody happy today?” He was a master at putting the most difficult puzzles together. As his health declined, he only needed a short walk, a cup of hot chocolate, ice water and the Sound of Music DVD to keep him content in the most difficult of times. Even in his last days, he made sure everyone was happy and expressed his love and appreciation to all his loved ones. He will be dearly missed.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Dorine’s parents; Ralph and Norma Bracken, sisters-in-law, Belva Wayman, Lana Siple and Mary Jane Bracken. He is survived by his loving wife Dorine Bracken Ralph, six children; Mark Ralph (Melene), Norma Ralph, Glynn Ralph (KenLynne), Allison Haskell (Blaine), Arlene Herrick (Troy), and Daniel Ralph (Tammy), sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. Dean is also survived by his brother Clair (Joan), brother-in-laws; Lavell Bracken and Wally Siple.
Dean's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Memory Care staff at Legacy House of Taylorsville, and Inspiration Hospice for the tender loving care they provided Dean in his last few months of life.
