Shirley Lamb Davis passed away quietly at her residence in Cotton Wood Heights, Utah. She was born November 13, 1928 at her home in Magna, Utah to George E. Lamb and Martha Stone. Shirley graduated from Cyprus High School in 1946. She later attended Utah state University, graduating with a major in Music and a minor in Language Arts.
After working as lead vocalist for the AI Sedgley orchestra and teaching jr. high school English, Shirley relocated to San Francisco, CA and began working at Standard Oil Company. Shirley met her beloved husband, Alan Grant Davis, at an LDS MIA social in their Bay Ward. They were married in the Lion House in 1959. Their marriage was subsequently solemnized in the Oakland, California LDS temple.
Throughout Shirley’s life, she was always very involved with music, playing the piano, writing lyrics, composing music, and participating in several choirs. She also enjoyed writing poetry.
She was a very loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan, brother, Max, and sister, Dorothy. She is survived by her sons, Brad Davis and Bart Davis; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 9 at Valley View Memorial Park,
4440 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, Utah at 11:00 a.m.
