On the morning of February 3rd, 2024, a bright star in our family dimmed when Rosie “Rosie Posie” Monago, 7 months old, left us to be reunited with family that has gone before. From her mother’s side, Tio Pedro Monago, Abuelita Hipolita Monago Lizalbe, and Abuelito Baldomero Reynoso Flores. From her father’s side Jose Ignacio Roa (grandfather) and great-grandmother Anastasia Acevedo Carrillo.
She is survived by her grandparents Clemente and Teresa Monago, her mother Rosa Monago, her father Guillermo Roa Martinez, and her siblings who will miss her dearly, JazLene (11), Isaac (10), Delilah (7), and Daisy (4).
On June 23rd, 2023, a six-pound little angel changed our lives for the better. Rosie was born in West Valley City, Utah, to Rosa Monago and Guillermo Roa Martinez. Rosie’s contagious little giggles filled our home daily. Our happy lil’ sweetie always had a radiant smile for everyone she met. Her mere presence filled our hearts with such joy. When she looked at you with those beautiful brown eyes it was impossible to feel anything other than love. We were so fortunate to get to watch her grow and reach her little milestones. From the moment Rosa found out Rosie would be coming into this world, she had an instant bond with her. From the first kick in her momma’s belly, Rosa knew Rosie would be special. Though her time on this earth was brief, she was given the opportunity to travel and make unforgettable memories with her mother and siblings. When she was five months, she took her first plane ride to San Diego with her mother and siblings, she was a natural flier, Delta only of course. Rosie spent her weekends cheering on JazLene at her soccer games, and Isaac at his football games. She was their number one fan. When she wasn’t out attending family parties or at Grandpa Clemente and Grandma Teresa’s house, she could be found at home with her mother and siblings. Rosie’s favorite place was her jumper. She would be content to just jump and jump while she happily played with her little toys and savored her little snacks. Just a week ago we got to watch her crawl across the living room floor. We were so proud. She was actively working on her next trick of standing up on the couches and it breaks our hearts that we will not be able to see her take her first steps. She was such a smart and curious little girl and had started to say “teta” when she wanted her milk, and was so close to saying Delilah’s name, “Lila”.
Rosie’s siblings loved her dearly. There weren’t too many moments when she wasn’t lovingly held in their arms, being tickled or being played with. Everyone loved to help out with whatever our little Rosie needed. She was told “I love you” often and given an uncountable amount of kisses every day of her life. Rosie gave us a lifetime of love during her brief stay on earth with us, and we are all better for it. If there is anything our Rosie taught us, it is to live life to the fullest, we must live like Rosie lived; so happy, so loving and making a positive influence in the lives of all those we meet.
Rosie, though our hearts are shattered with grief that you have left us, we know that we will be together again. As you shine down on us as one of Heaven’s perfect angels, we will always be reminded of your beauty, your innocence, and your sweet spirit that made such a strong impression on our hearts. May you fly high with magic on your wings through the soft white clouds of heaven. Rest in peace my precious Rosie Posie, I look forward to the day we meet again.
We would like to thank our family and friends for your outpourings of love, the multiple blessings over us, the shoulders to cry on, for the plates of food, for giving of your time to help with chores, for caring for Rosie’s siblings while we navigated this tragic storm, and mostly, for your strength and love you have all freely given through this difficult time.
