Rita Henson

Rita Helen (Fretter) Henson, age 91, of Sandy, Utah passed away at Alta View Hospital on October 21, 2018.

Rita was born June 16, 1927 and grew up in Tamarack Mills, Northern Michigan.

Rita married William Oren Henson on October 15th, 1947. They had two children; Michael William and Sharleen Therese. The family moved to Utah in 1961 when William was relocated. Rita worked at LeVoy’s for many years as a seamstress. In 1983, she moved to California with her daughter and her family. They lived there for eight years then moved back to Utah where she lived the past 28 years.

Rita was a loving mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with them, especially during the holidays. Rita loved to bake and found great joy in making baked goods for her family. She loved traveling to Michigan in the summertime to visit family. During the last six years, Rita lived at a senior retirement home where staff commented how Rita loved to play bingo and when she won and had prize choices, she would always pick candy or toys for her grandchildren's visiting toy basket in her room.

Rita was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents Rudolph & Mary Fretter, her husband William Henson, son Michael Henson, daughter Sharleen Foreman, sister Therese Zigman and brothers George Fretter and Fritz Fretter.

Rita was survived by her brother Bob Fretter, her son-in-law Glenn (Connie) Foreman, Grandchildren Jamie (Ian) Kirkpatrick and Justin Foreman as well as six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Family private graveside services will be held at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City, Utah where Rita will be buried beside her husband, Bill Henson and son Mike.
