Pauline S. Dobson, "Pat", was born in Philadelphia, MS where her family were sharecroppers and she picked cotton with her siblings. In her early teens her family relocated to Tacoma, WA, working to support the war efforts. Here she met the love of her life, Donald Dobson, who had also escaped the poverty of the south. They were married on November 19, 1945.
They moved to Colorado, where Don worked in the mines. Here they had three children; Paula (Turtles), Don (Donnie), and Cheryl (Sweetie). Tragically they lost their first son Donald Jr. (Donnie). Don and Pat relocated to Hunter, UT for Don’s new job. Here they had four more children, Ronald (Manny), Jonathan (Johnny Guitar), Dorothy (Dott-Doo), and Scott (Squoog).
Throughout their lives in Utah, Don and Pat built and ran three successful steel fabrication businesses. Pat worked to support their business while running a household of six rambunctious children. She truly was the heart of the household, business and family. Her family would later grow to an overwhelming size. She had more Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren than we can list here today. They all knew the love of their Grandma or Grandma-Great, as many called her. Pat was Mom or Grandma to many friends outside the immediate family. She will be remembered for her unique family nick-names, quick witt and gaudy holiday cakes. As we write this, Pat would say "Ya'all, quit makin a fuss now"!
She is survived by three children, Paula Dobson, Ronald Dobson (Shere), and Jonathan Dobson, sisters, Madean Tanner and Dorothy Hazen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Let us not forget the many Grand, Great and Great-Great Grand children she leaves behind. Pat is preceded in death by her loving husband, Children; Donald Dobson, Jr., Cheryl Dobson, Dorothy Merkey, and Scott Dobson. Grandchildren; Donald Dobson and Derick Dobson, as well as her parents and three siblings.
