Nancy Ann Newsome

Our beautiful, intelligent, strong, and loving Mother, left this earthly life in the late evening of Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born in Leadville, Colorado on June 3, 1938, to William and LaPrieal Atkinson.

She grew up in Lehi, Utah. She graduated salutatorian from Saint Euphrasia High School in Denver, Colorado, class of 1955. She also studied at Stevens-Henager College. She married Jack Rice in 1956, divorced, and he passed away in 2009.

She worked at the Post Office for many years. She met her husband Glenn Newsome at work, and they were married on January 18, 1970. Glenn passed away January 4, 2021. Glenn and Nancy were married for 54 years and have a blended family of 10 children, 7 boys, and 3 girls. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hunter 11th Ward. An avid baseball fan. Her favorite team was the Chicago Cubs. She was the first woman to coach Hunter Little League Baseball. She was a terrific mother, homemaker, and caretaker, who provided a warm and friendly home for family and friends who came to visit.

Mom was an expert seamstress, and with Glenn as her quilting partner, they spent summer cutting and piecing quilts, and in winter they would quilt them. Our Mom was known and loved by many, and she was known for always caring for any human, or animal that needed to be mothered. She loved her family fiercely and made it very clear to all that knew her. Our Mama will be missed very much.

She is survived by four sons: Shawn, Terry, Kevin, and Ladd, three daughters: Tammy, Janet, and Lorene, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by, her parents, husband Glenn, older brothers: Lester and Blaine, three sons: Glenn, Jeff, and George, and two grandchildren: Kyle, and Catrina.

Graveside Services, Monday, 12:00 pm, January 13, 2025, at Valley View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT. Visitors may call 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the graveside service.
