Marvin Ray Francis

Marvin Ray Francis passed away at home on October 14, 2021. He was born to Lawrence and Rubelle Francis on November 29, 1936. He married his sweetheart, Carla Rae Downs, on February 13, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent the first part of their marriage in Germany as he served in the US Army. Their first child was born there. After his service, they settled in West Valley City, Utah where they raised 6 children. He worked as a commercial refrigeration technician working for several companies throughout his career. He also worked as a ticket taker at the Salt Palace. He was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings. He loved the time he served in the baptistry in the Jordan River Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Arlyne Taylor, brother Adna Francis and son in law Greg Pay. Survived by children Kevin (Jennifer), Mike (Jeri), Sherri (Matt) Meredith, Jackie Francis, Jeannette (Greg) Pay and Diana Francis, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Marilyn Foote and brother Harvey Francis.

Funeral services will held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS ward house, 3836 West 4100 South. Funeral visitation will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at Valley View Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 10-10:45 a.m. at the ward house prior to the services. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park following services.
