On Aug 3rd, 2022, at the age of 76, our beloved Mom, Grandma, Sister, and Friend decided she was done with her courageous battle of Lung Cancer. Despite all the pain, Marsha was a fighter. She lived a life that would have sent anyone to their grave decades earlier. She had an unfiltered personality and a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing until the very end .
Marsha was born May 8th, 1946, to Glen and Grace Walker. Marsha was the baby of the family. She grew up in Afton, Wyoming.
Marsha lived a full life as a wonderful mother of 2 children, Douglas Bottoms and Mindy Bottoms. Marsha is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Bottoms. When Doug passed away, she became a full-time mother and father to her grandson Douglas Jr.
Douglas Jr. was her world and she made sure that Douglas always felt loved and gave him all she could. Marsha was also a proud Grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Marsha loved to garden, and she started every morning with a coffee in her hand as she made her way outside to feed the squirrels and pull any weeds that she could find. Marsha had a natural green thumb and everyone in the family would call her to come plant their flowers because it was her specialty. Marsha had so many beautiful qualities about her but what stood out the most was how much she loved her family. She loved to make cinnamon sugar toast for her great grandchildren every time they would visit her, and they would always leave with sugar on their face. Chicken fried rice was her specialty, however, anything she cooked was made with love. Marsha loved to watch daytime talk shows. Ellen, the Price is Right, and Days of Our Lives was her absolute favorite. Marsha loved animals of all kinds, but most of all her two dogs, Mr. Capone and Trixe and her cat, Pockets. She loved to camp and be outdoors, and her all time favorite spot was Greys River in Wyoming. She had so many memories with her parents, children and grandchildren up there.
Marsha was known for her warm heart and foul mouth but most importantly, as the family protector. Anyone who knew Marsha, knew she had no shame in telling you what she thought or how she felt. Marsha lived her life on her terms and always had a good time wherever she went. As most of us, she had her share of troubles, but she faced life’s challenges with a sharp tongue of positivity, and a shot of vodka. Marsha was the grandma everyone wanted to visit with because she loved everyone for them, without judgement. Marsha was, Grandma Marsha to ALL.
Marsha will be fondly remembered by her family and friends as a loving, wild, carefree, and humorist Grandma . Marsha’s joyous presence will be missed by all.
The party will never be the same without you Grandma, take a shot for all of us living without you.
A viewing will be held August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
