Marquette Marie Smith, age 44 passed away January 4, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 23, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lowell C Tolman and Irene Potochnick Tolman. On October 15, 1993, she married Jeffrey Smith; the love of her life and best friend, in Elko, Nevada. Marquette graduated from Judge Memorial High School. She worked as an administrative assistant at the Salt Lake County Sherriff's Department where she was blessed to make everlasting friendships and was able to share her energetic, vibrant personality.
Marquette was a devoted wife, mother and daughter who loved with all of her heart. Her emotions were felt deeply and she paired it with an infinite will to provide comfort, help and service for anyone around her. As such an outgoing, fun-loving individual she portrayed an unmatched level of compassion that was prevalent throughout her life. Anyone who crossed paths with Marquette was able to see an individual who truly held a penchant for making others happy. Marquette carried a passion for cooking, writing, reading, camping, football, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Our memories of her will be forever cherished and she will be dearly missed by all.
Marquette is survived by her loving husband, Jeffery Smith; two children, Rodger Smith and Melissa Smith; her mother, Irene Tolman; as well as her precious dogs, Max and Titan; cats, Furball, Lil Girl, and Lil Guy and dearest goats, Joey and Adele. She is preceded in death by her father, Lowell C Tolman; her beloved dogs, Curly, Ike, Sheba, Scooby, Sam; treasured cats, Kitty Man, Priscilla, Oreo, Fritos, Ebony; and adored ferrets, Freida, Fritzy, and Badger.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. The family invites friends to a viewing Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be held at a later date.
