

Larry David Bunkall passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. He was born in 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mel and Nola Bunkall. He graduated from Granger High School and served a two-year mission to Thailand for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in adult education administration from Brigham Young University. Larry married Carolyn Winder in 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in various callings in the church, including bishop, bishopric counselor, youth leader, and gospel doctrine teacher. He had diverse jobs, including printer, graphic artist, educator, government affairs, lobbyist, and public official. He loved his family, creating beautiful things, planning opportunities for people to come together, teaching the gospel, and testifying of truth.
He is survived by his sweetheart; six children and their spouses: David (Robyn), Elizabeth (Matt) Hilburn, John (Tara), Mark, Matt (Jenny), and Rebecca (Landon) Squire; thirteen grandchildren; his siblings: Corwin (Judy), Jeanne Widerburg, Nancy (Vaughn) Shosted, Susan (Greg) Smith, and Brent (Tara); Carolyn’s siblings: John (Arliss) Winder, Judy (Robin) Reese, Jerry (Stacie) Winder, Peter (Carie) Winder. Preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn’s parents Pete and Marilyn Winder, and brother-in-law Brian Widerburg.
Funeral services will be held April 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Park 7th Ward, 4842 West Vermillion Drive in South Jordan, Utah. Time to visit with the family will be the evening before on April 18, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home in West Valley City, 4335 West 4100 South, and prior to the funeral, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
