Our wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Kent L Madsen passed away at home on November 27, 2022 at the age of 90. Kent was born to Iner and Vera Jensen on July 26, 1932 in Gunnison Utah. Kent was raised in Magna where he became a 2 time marble champion, (which he never let anyone forget). Kent went on to graduate from Cyprus High school.
After graduation, Kent was drafted, at which time he chose to serve in the US Navy during the Korean war aboard the USS Hamner. During his time on the Hamner, Kent was recognized by his commanding officer for his bravery and quick thinking which resulted in saving the ship and crew from colliding with a Naval aircraft carrier.
After being discharged from the Navy, Kent enjoyed a 30 year career at Kennecott as a carpenter. His favorite part of the job was playing cards on lunch with his buddies and winning.
Kent married Betty Reeves on December 19th 1961. They later settled and lived in Kearns for 53 years where they raised 3 lovely daughters, Kathy, Karen and Kaylynn.
Kent was fun loving and he always enjoyed telling the most inappropriate jokes. Kent loved playing pranks on everyone from his sisters to his wife, daughters and grandkids. No one was safe from his shenanigans. Kent was a good-hearted man and was always willing to lend a hand or a buck to any family member or friend in need. Kents happiest place to be was at home on the couch surrounded by his family.
Kent’s greatest joy was his three daughters, he loved them more than anything and each one believed them to be his favorite. Kent was also an amazing uncle and made each niece and nephew feel like his favorite as well.
Our husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kent is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years Betty “Honey Fruit” Madsen, children Kathy (John Steven) Coffman, Karen (Cody) Reynolds, Kaylynn Olsen, Robert (Debi) McKellar, and Debbie Jo Montoya his niece, aka his first daughter, and his favorite faithful pet “his little girl” Lilly, grandchildren Tucker, Savannah, Madison (Ichiban), Mason, Forrest, Foster and his great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents Iner and Vera Jensen, son Eric Kent Madsen, sisters Veown Farmer, Norma Sain, Verna Montoya and LaRee Sandoval and brother Grant Madsen.
We would like to thank Nikki, Alisa and the staff from Active Hospice for their loving care.
Dad, you were the sweetest, we love and miss you more than words can say. Our hearts are broken without you.
