Kent Lamar Hackett, age 64, passed away January 23, 2017, surrounded by his family in his home in Kearns, Utah after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 19, 1952 in Roosevelt, Utah to Crystal Allred Hackett and Ray Lamar Hackett. He married Kathy Nordgren in the Salt Lake Temple on October 5, 1979.
He grew up in Hanna, Utah. He enjoyed working on the farm, riding horses, fishing, deer hunting, and hiking. He attended Tabiona High School, where he played on the basketball team. He graduated from the Utah Technical College at Provo.
Kent was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Alaska-British Columbia Mission. He loved serving in various callings and had a strong testimony of the Gospel.
He had a love for life, family, and his pets. He was also an avid fan of BYU sports. He worked for Cream o’Weber Dairy for over 30 years. At the time of his passing, he worked for the LDS Church.
Kent is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Amy, Kayla, Troy (Katie), Trevor (Robyn) and Chad; five grandchildren, Lydia, Emily, Hyrum, Carter, and Shayla; siblings, Ron (Linda) Hackett, Barbara (Tom) Davis, Lorraine (Rock) Harrison, and Tamera (Doug) Angus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Crystal Allred Hackett and Ray Lamar Hackett; brother-in-law, Tom Davis; and nephew, Austin Angus.
A viewing will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at the Walnut Hills Building, 5938 West 6200 South, Kearns, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
