Kenneth Munro Taylor, 82, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 in Holladay, Utah.
Ken was born April 8, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Richard and Ada May Wilkie Munro Taylor, and grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He joined the LDS Church in 1951, and later came to the U.S. where he worked for the Church Financial Department, the family later moved to Washington State where he worked for Boeing Corp. Back in Salt Lake City he worked for Restaurant and Store Equipment Co. until his retirement. He sang with the Swanee Singers. He married Jantina Westerbaan in Salt Lake City on April 5, 1954, the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple; they later divorced. He married Virginia Andreasen; she later passed away. He married Aase Berit Steen Andersen on June 10, 1989; their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
Ken was generous and fun-loving. He loved people, and he loved to be in the middle of it all. When Ken started riding the bus with Berit to work, she went from knowing no one to knowing everyone, there was friendly chatter on the way to work. At the care center, he was known as being kind and complimentary, often telling people that they were beautiful or nice.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, survived by his loving wife Berit; children, Susan (Brian) McGray of West Jordan, Utah and Roger Taylor of Washington State; 2 brothers, Harry (Jean) Taylor of Moncton, New Bruswick and George (Shirley) Taylor of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; 4 grandchildren and 17 step grandchildren. The family would like to thank Holladay Healthcare for their dedicated and loving care for the last 4 years.
Funeral Services for Ken will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Oquirrh Point 3rd Ward, 6567 South Wakefield Way (5885 W.), West Jordan, Utah. The family will receive friends at a visitation Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
