the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he married his high school sweetheart, Cindy on
December 1, 1979. They were blessed with four beautiful daughters: Shannon (Nick), Candice
(Jeremy), Tiffany (Ryan), and Danielle (Pablo). His most cherished moments were spent with his
sweetheart and their grandchildren: Cole, Makenzie, Ethan, Peyten, Teagan, Finley, Adelynn,
Quinn, and Everly. He was the son of Gene and Dorene who raised Kay and his 11 siblings:
Judy, Barbara, Lon, Les, Guy, Gary, Bob, Mark, Don, Annette, and Lorie.
To say Kay was a character would be an understatement. He relished the experiences he had
throughout high school participating in plays and musicals where he could entertain and amuse
others. On the track field he was known as the “Flash” or “Chaos” with his record breaking
speed and agility. After returning from his mission, he went on to obtain an Associate Degree in
Computer Science as well as his Bachelor's Degree in Business.
Kay had a knack for creativity and planning which served him well in his career as MIS director
and Emergency Manager of West Valley City. He greatly enjoyed his involvement with bringing
C.E.R.T to Utah, the planning of the E-center, and the future Olympics in Salt Lake City. A
highlight for him was returning to Japan as an interpreter for West Valley City officials at the
Nagano Olympics. He continued his management skills as CEO of Global Transmission Media
Solutions, working alongside his son-in-law, Nick. His next adventure brought him to fulfilling
one of his personal goals of starting his own business, Rods N Rims, with another son-in-law,
Jeremy.
Family meant more than anything to Kay, he always jumped at the opportunity to spend time or
goof off with his girls. He loved singing and being silly with them, and later on with his
grandchildren. He had the gift of making others feel special with his contagious smile and
listening ear. In loving memory of him, we are saddened to announce his sudden return home to
his Heavenly Father on March 18, 2021.
At this time, in lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to help cover the cost of funeral
expenses. All contributions may be sent to Nick Hansen (Shannon’s husband). Note: for security
purposes they have created a picture of Kay and Cindy on each of the sites so you know that
you have the correct account.
