Kathy was born in Havre De Grace, Maryland, (nee Cabrey), but was a Utah girl, true and through. She attended Dugway High School, graduated from St. Mary’s of the Wasatch, and attended Utah State University. It was in Logan that she met the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Terry Anderson.
Kathy and Terry often worked together, always laughed together, and together made home and family.
All who had the fortune to know Kathy - whether as mother, Gaamaa, neighbor, co-worker, sister, Big Ire, or friend – cherished her distinct combination of gentle strength and decency. She loved to laugh, but never at the expense of another. Through those big dark eyes, things were clear, and nothing was unimportant: you mattered, doing the right thing mattered. But most of all, family mattered. We shall all miss her. We will carry her with us always.
Kathy will be missed and remembered by that family. In her last weeks, Kathy’s family gathered around her. Yes, to say good-bye, but as well, to celebrate Kathy’s life, and her love for each and all of them: husband Terry; daughters Lory Erickson (husband Art) and Sharla Avea (husband Sielu); and their children Connor, McKaely, Hannah, Ethan, Aaron, Zachary, and Sarah Jordyn of South Jordan and in Hawaii, Samuta, and Siela. Surrounded in her home with these three generations of love, Kathy knew her job here to be done, and departed this world happy and at peace.
Kathy’s family includes her husband Terry’s family: Ramon & Joyce (deceased) Anderson, Lowell Anderson (deceased) &Laurie Baker, Max & Monica Anderson, Kirby & Geri Anderson, Rod & Mary Anderson, Susan & Kim Winkel, and Kim & Karen Anderson. Kathy’s family includes Sunny & Millie Cabrey, Richard (deceased) & Judy Cabrey, and Micael and Ingrid Cabrey.
The family would like to thank both staffs at Dr Samuleson’s and Dr Cannon’s offices, as well as the many Dr’s and nurses over the years at IMC and the former LDS hospitals that helped to keep her healthy and strong over the years. A heartfelt thank you to her nurses Alexis, McKenzie, and Becky who became a strength in the final weeks and at some of the most difficult hours.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. Viewings Thursday evening from 5-7 and Friday from 2-2:45.
