It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Nielsen Crowther. She returned to her Heavenly Father’s arms in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at the young age of 60. Her journey came to a close due to complications following a liver transplant, a testament to her valiant fight against polycystic kidney and liver diseases – afflictions she jokingly referred to as “the gift that keeps on giving.”
Karen lived a full life, dedicated to her 7 children, their spouses, and her 13 grandchildren. She brought joy and belonging to all that she met through her optimism and her infectious laugh. Faith and family were the hallmarks of her life. She served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the temple weekly. Her Sunday dinners were legendary and she always put her family’s comfort above her own.
When not doting on her grandkids or taking care of her family, you could find her with a sledgehammer, drill, or paint roller. Her DIY interests and abilities were endless. Her loving care also extended to her beautiful gardens that she carefully selected and cultivated. Home Depot lost its most dedicated customer. She left behind a legacy that will live on in the lives of all those she loved. We miss you so much and look forward to when we can be together again.
Karen is survived by her husband, Todd Jay Crowther; her father, Robert Lawrence Nielsen; her siblings: Glade (Becky), Shellie (Paul), and Jason (Jenn); her 7 children: Brandon (Christy), Spencer (Lisa), Amber (Eli), Dallin, Travis (Victoria), Jayden, and Breanna (Hunter); and her 13 grandchildren: Abbie, Lucas, Jett, Kylie, Mason, Jack, Stiles, Max, James, Sam, Skylee, Navi, Rylie.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Romola Kendall Nielsen.
