

Jerry Scott Nielsen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away June 7, 2022, age 55, from medical complications. He was born May 14, 1967 to James R. Nielsen and Nancy A. Fullmer. Jerry married high school sweetheart, Teresa Colonno June 20, 1985. They had two beautiful daughters: Ashley Cowan (Ryan) and Brittany Anderson (Michael) and recently welcomed their first grandson, RD, at the end of November.
After graduating from South High School, Jerry joined the USAF/ANG and served for 9 years. He spent his professional career in trucking: Consolidated Freightways, USF Reddaway, with the last 12 years at FedEx Freight. He treasured the relationships he formed along the way.
Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing, camping, golfing, and doing anything with family and friends. You could find him during football season watching the Utes and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He loved coaching his daughters in softball and basketball. He was always happy and had an infectious laugh. Jerry gave the best hugs. His loving and generous memory will live on in his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, children, grandson, in-laws Joe and Ellen, siblings Marty (Robin), Robert (Brenda), Roman (Megan), Jenny, Lori (Jason), Dominic, Tina (Daniel), Drew (Athena) and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Valley View Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South West Valley City. The viewing will be Thursday, June 16 from 6:00-8:00pm. Graveside services will be Friday, June 17 at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow.
