1958-2014
Jeanmarie Goodman passed away January 21st, 2014 following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer, which she fought with courage, cheerfulness and grace.
Born June 15th, 1958, she lost her mother at a young age but was soon blessed with a new family, a mother who loved her, a new brother and a new best friend; a sister who was just 5 months younger. When two additional kids were born, the family was complete.
She attended Granger High School where she participated in drama, track, gymnastics and developed a lifelong love for music. After graduating from Ricks College she began a 30-year career in nursing, where those who received her care often described her as an angel. She truly loved her work “family” at Pioneer Valley Hospital.
She married Mark Goodman on March 18th, 1980, in the Salt Lake Temple. She raised six wonderful children and often referred to them as her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed following her children to soccer games and music recitals. She cooked to show her love, and for every family member’s birthday she insisted on cooking a favorite meal and dessert. Her greatest joys in life were family get-togethers and vacations. She added her warm alto voice to many choirs throughout her life, but the aspect of music she will most miss is teaching songs to her Primary children and giving violin lessons to her granddaughters.
Jeanmarie loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many callings, including Primary and Young Woman’s president, Relief Society counselor, nursery leader, Primary music leader and ward choir director. Her testimony was firm and unwavering.
She is preceded in death by her mother Barbara, and brother Warren. She is survived by husband Mark, parents Jack and Sherie Brown, siblings Jim (Tina), Jackie, Kent (Lisa), Jayna (Steve) Quinn, Steve and Joni, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also her children, Jenny (Matt) Draper, Brett (DeeDee), Wendy (Mike) Peterson, Taylor (Jacqueline), Jordan, Jed (Lizet), and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Hunter Central Stake Center, 3930 South 6000 West, West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 24th at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, and at 9:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
