January 26, 1940 – November 11, 2017
Our Father, Grandfather, and friend James aka “Jimbo” Murphy passed away peacefully due to injuries sustained in a car accident. James was born January 26, 1940 to Thurma Jones and James Hugh Murphy, in Ontario, California.
Jim loved his country. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957- 1961, and then after the Navy he also served in the Army Reserves. He also loved restoring his hot rods from ground up, and taking them to car shows. He loved road tripping, and taking us grandkids boating to Lake Powell every summer. Those summers were filled with memories we will never forget. Jim loved his handle bar mustache, and his mustache wax, his war movies, old western movies, and lets not forget his infamous 100 ounce soda pop mug where he would fill to the brim with Diet Dr.Pepper, where from that straw we would steal sips from “Papas Soda”!
Jim worked as a Data Technician at AT&T. He retired there with 30 + years. After retirement Jim and Janie moved to Quartzsite, Arizona. There they spent time day tripping, gold finding, and bumming around town. They had many friends and family there who will miss him dearly.
Jim served in many callings for The Church of Latter Day Saints. He took his calling very serious and fulfilled them faithfully. He enjoyed doing temple work when ever he got the chance. He loved the gospel and held it close to his heart.
James is survived by his son Mikehel (Angie), grandchildren, TJ Barney, Karleigh(Gavin) Thain, Garett Barney, Trenten Murphy, Jaden Murphy. Great Grandchildren Caydan, Brynlee, Drake, Seth, Nixon, Bracken, and Madden. Many cousins and friends.
James is reunited with his eternal companion Janie Murphy, his mother and father, his siblings, two daughters, Cynthia and Sandra, he is proceeded in death by Myrtle Murphy and Brenda Joy Murphy.
